We walked over to the Atlantis Aquarium today and spent the day at The Dig, this is a series of aquariums located beneath the lobby of the Royal Towers and outside in various marine habitats, these are the world's largest open air marine habitat. The Dig depicts what life was like in the legendary destroyed city of Atlantis and provides a unique excursion into a wondrous civilization that is now home to some of the world's most amazing mrine life. Hundreds of different aquatic species can be spotted in the Dig's various tanks, such as zebra sharks, tarpon, bonefish, permits, angelfish, yellow tail snapper, grouper, sharks, stingrays, manta rays (one of which is larger than ten feet), and various types of jellyfish, small reef fish and seahorse. Look at the bottom in the different aquariums and you can see wreckage and debris scattered about, this is made to represent the "Lost City of Atlantis". A 100-foot clear acrylic tunnel runs underwater and this allows you an unobstructed view of the marine life and their environment.
