Woke up this morning with the motion of the ocean! It is still blowing a gale and we have no protection from the wind here, so the boat is swaying to the music of the sea, I took advantage of of the wind today and did the little bit of laundry we had. Then I sunned myself and the clothes on the deck. I have enjoyed the alone time out here as clothes are optional because there is no one else around and after the close encounter of the R.V. Kind in Boot Key Harbor. This is a nice change! The Islands here are made up of coral and some of them rise out of the water some 40 - 50 feet, in the morning they shine white with sun on them, kinda like the white cliffs of Dover. They rise right out of the sea so the waves splash up on them making some pretty impressive sprays up the cliffs! Most of them have some greenery on them but no trees.
You know, I told Pierre, I must be some kind of wind magnet, where ever we have gone the wind seems to be not far behind. When we got to the Dry Tortugas the wind it started to blow and never quit, the same with Key West, now when we got here it was calm as can be, but within hours of our appearance, here comes the wind, and it has been relentless. Pierre says that is good, sailboat people like the wind, but I for one am tired of it and could go away for awhile in my book! Maybe because it is winter here and since they get no real cold, they get wind, and lots of it!
We are talking about leaving here and sailing on to Bimini, I am a little disappointed because I have not got to see much of Cay Sal, but if the wind and the seas are going to prevent it anyway, we might as well get on our way and keep the adventure going!
