Our three weeks in Camp Wildwood Resort has come to an end, but not before we experienced some wonderful adventures, of course my first train ride, and to Chicago, no less..two firsts! We ended up going to Chicago three time..I felt like a native! That town is quite massive and wonderful! So many people, so much hustle and bustle. The building were some of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen! No pictures will ever capture the magnificence of Chicago!
I saw my first Amish people in Middlebury and Shipshewana Indiana, they have a lot of Amish people. The third largest group in the United States.
I got to put my feet in Lake Michigan... the water was fresh and cold! Saw and climbed the dunes of Michigan! They were awesome! Not white like ours, but quite impressive!
We went on so many small road trips, to Three Rivers, Saint Joe, White Pigeon, Elkhart, Niles, too many to count...met a lot of super nice people.
We toured some spectacular mansions, Tippecanoe Place, the home of Clement Studebaker, we visited the Oliver Mansion, Copshaholm, the family home of Joseph D. Oliver....the thing I thought about the most was...I'm glad I don't have to clean them! We walked through the Studebaker car museum and saw some old cars, toured the RV Heritage Foundation Museum where we saw some old RVs ...hmm lots of old stuff!
We went to The Chocolate Factory and the chocolate museum, it is home to one of the largest collections of chocolate memorabilia in the world, including a 1,300-year-old Mayan chocolate pot! There are hundreds of tins, containers and chocolate boxes of all shapes and sizes. We dipped a spoon in melted chocolate and we watched workers bag lots and lots of chocolates!
Saw my first Cherry tree, bursting with so many cherries!
I saw apple trees, peach trees, grape vines, fields of corn...so much corn....so much corn, wheat fields, potato fields, and fields green beans!
Got to pilot my first tug boat on Lake Juno! Watched the fireworks and saw beautiful, elegant wild swans on Lake Juno.
Navi had a few firsts too, he escape the RV a couple of time, and sent us all running about the campgrounds trying to catch him! Lots of laughter (a bit of crying on my part). He got to ride on a golf cart, eat grass, chase birdies and dragonflies, he climbed a tree, he met a turtle, a couple of dogs, (he was not excited about them) and he rolled around in the dirt! Oh...and he got some fleas!
I have seen some of the most spectacular trees around here...Maple, Birch, Walnut, Blue Spruce, lots of Firs and different types of Pines.....did you know that Michigan is actually ranked in the top ten most forested states in all of the USA. Georgia is number one! It is absolutely beautiful, and so green!
Michigan’s extraordinarily beautiful places range from beaches, to sand dunes, to forests and farm lands, to tens of thousands of lakes, this state’s breathtaking yet underrated natural splendor and diverse beauty makes it a must visit!
My bucket list is only getting bigger on this trip, but I did get to cross off a few!
